Multiple store order status under same invoice causing confusion

My vendors are noticing an issue with order status. When customers place a multivendor order under one invoice, each vendor receives the order which has the same Invoice order number. The vendors begin to fulfill their respective orders but they have found out that when either changes the status of their respective orders it automatically changes the status of the other vendor as well. So, in other words, multivendor orders under the same invoice number affect other vendors order status as well.

I am confused but ask if theirs a solution for this?
